Pottery is a reflection of the place and time in which it is created. Our home and pottery sits on a 5 acre plot on a bluff near Etter, a once-thriving town just a mile from my home. In the late 1800's, it was home to a railway station, general store, church and schoolhouse.
Clan refers to my Irish heritage and the love and support of family and friends who helped build our woodfire kiln. Firings take 12-15 hours and are fueled by wood that has been cut on our land.
Crafting pots by hand and firing a kiln with wood is an old and ancient ritual which speaks of another time. Random marks left by ash and flame make each pot unique, bringing beauty and grace to the rituals of everyday life.
